Balance their life, encourage to enjoy the simplicity and nature in Mui Wo and also appreciate the value of life. That’s why creating a natural and spiritual environment which is ideal for soul searching – Meditation. Floating Village
A Film Post Production Workspace
# Future Workspace
The project aims to experiment a different typology towards workspace, as office buildings are usually built to accomplish maximum efficiency of workflow. The Floating Village used the spatial arrangement of a village, dwelling units to make a manifesto of moral working environment, as a counterargument towards the stereotype of efficiency exaggeration. The office is composed by two level, scattered and massive working unit on the above and open planed space underneath, staff can experiment the forest-like open area on the lower floor generated by the structural columns and interior vegetation. The working units contain a symbolic meaning of a house, and at the same time not aligned, so that the view of the exterior landscape is maximized, also the material used for construction is unique for film production – artificial intelligent screen.
Designing More With Less
MUJI Complex
# Branding
"Nothing, Yet Everything." MUJI is an enormously large, empty vessel that accepts the sensitivity of anyone and everyone. Designing more with less is the core of my project – MUJI Complex. It is located in hybrid city content, Tsim Sha Tsui and used geometric order to generate its master plan. A sense of silence and emptiness is created—just go back to the origin, into the future.
Learning Under the Same Roof
HKSC Work Lab
# Institutional
This work-lab of HKSC is a low, single-story and waving landscape. The unique waving form implies accordance and provides a dynamic and continuous space. In this space, each containing three different functions, including studio, multipurpose Area for gallery or resting place, and discussion room, are arranged and shaped to separate gently, but also connect. The curved glass wall separates inside and outside. Also, the glass is making activities and art, all the time. Use glass making the studio, gallery, and discussion area, showing them both equally currently. Meanwhile, bring the surrounding of rooftop in the waving landscape, not only visually but also as an experience, which is about communication, interaction, and sharing under the same roof.
Book Store
= Modern + Astronomy + Constellation
# Commercial
A brand new conceptual “market” is going to open in Hong Kong. This experimental project includes more than 30 international brands, from garment to printed matter, accessory to luxurious products.
The hosts have chosen the warehouses and old factories as the site for this conceptual "market". Besides designers from aboard, they also like to invite local designers to design the experimental "display booth" for some of the sale items. Although each ”stall“ in the "market" will be unique, they are all under a unified imagery of "stone" a layering of stones in the market.
Small Pleasure of Life
Cabin Design
# Residential
We are all used to live in small quarter. The space is almost like the extension of our body. Similar to a piece of clothing, it shrouds and accommodations our daily routine, forming an envelope that protects and enhance our live.
BRIEF
The project aims to design a small cabin for a couple aged mid – 30. The max volume of the cabin is 108m3. To designing the house, I would concern 8 living elements of “small pleasures of life”, which in the book Changing the Art of Inhabitation (1994), architects Alison & Peter Smithson.
A small cabin should be a “Secret Garden” for a couple. It’s a place for considerating their relationship, but not or working. “Small Pleasures of Life” imspires me to design a cabin which is site specific, user friendly and with a geometrical form.
Life House
Living Quarter
# Residential
The theme of this living quarter is LIFE. Different periods of life : newborn, process of life, and death are represented by different forms of wood. Wood is, naturally, the main material. Stainless steel, glass and concrete are also be used. There would be 3 forms of wood: raw branch, wood with finishing, and charcoal. They would be independently featured in the 3 utility spaces respectively, providing three different spatial qualities and unique experiences. 3 spaces present strong association with nature and relaxing effects, and may help people realize and experience why wood is timeless and seen as a "human" material.
